![]() This could have been presented in a better light, as the main character keeps mentioning how “cool” this secret ceremony is, without bringing it back to the point of saying that idolatry is wrong. Near the beginning there is a scene where the villagers allow the missions trip team (the story is centered on this team) into one of their “secret ceremonies”, where they are worshipping an idol. And yes, this adventure did come to a satisfactory conclusion that drove home some good reader takeaway. The book read like an action movie, but everything was believable. That’s not to say that all of the character development happens at the beginning. I think this helped make the characters seem more real than spreading the introductions over the course of the book. It begins with suspense, then slows down to take some time for the reader to actually meet the characters. Was it worth all the excitement? Well, If We Survive is a gripping book. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The plot of If We Survive, though, really interested me, so I picked up a copy as soon as it was available back in November. After those five books, I looked forward to Crazy Dangerous, but haven’t yet been able to convince myself to buy it yet. One trip to the library later, I was hooked. I first discovered Andrew Klavan’s Homelanders series at a local book store. ![]()
